i seem to recall reading something about a filter mode on-device setting, but trawling through the main molar thread hasnt brought it to my attention. Can anyone advise? Id like to be able to switch between high/band/lowpass/disable on the fly... -

A more complete writeup for filters is on the agenda but the quick and dirty for now is:
Select Filter type= VOL+3'rd bottom row pad from left
Filter Resonance= VOL+2'rd bottom row pad from left
Filter Frequency= VOL+1'st bottom row pad from left
If you have configured you VOL pad location to sit on any of the first three pads on the lowest row then the filter functions skip that pad.
Mult is set in config file to allow editing of the filter graph if desired. -

SET MIDI NOTE LENGTH:
First, you need the following in your config:
[0] Edit Filter graph instead of Mults on-device
Then get a single note playing in an SN1 row. Hold down the 'Mul' shortcut (just to the right of 'Edit' on the default 128 setup) and press the topmost button in the columns following the single note. You'll notice that Molar will draw in the same Note Velocity on the grid, with a green X at the top of the stalk, signifying that it's a hold and not a repeat. -

SET MIDI NOTE LENGTH Continued
----------------------------------------
Appendum to the above addition:
The lowest row in MULT can be used to "undo" midi note lengths
Another method is by shift clicking above velocity stalks at the top of the velocity stalks window on the GUI.You will see little greenxxx's following your cursor when you get it right.Shift Clicking along the bottom of the velocity stalks window is "undo" note lengths.
It is also worth mentioning that the BIG RED KNOB on the GUI will set midi note length globally. -

thought this was the best place to add this...
I made some label strips (3 different sets) for Molar using my old Coreldraw 8.
these should give some visual aid as i've used different colors/shapes to
link buttons to functions.
the buttons got moved around in the proces so the jpg is not fit for the default bottom row (so edit the config)
cdr. file and (free)fonts are also here so you can make your own...
and some pics to show how i applied them -

More Midi Tricks using LIVE
Here's a nice trick for getting multiple midi destinations out of one instance of Molar in LIVE.
Create 2 midi tracks that you will use either as a destination to a Live instrument or as an external destination to an external midi device.
On each track, drag the "Pitch" midi tool instrument from live into the track. Set a range to filter midi. For example, set one track to start at C1 with 24 note range. The other track set to start at C4. Now the midi will be pitch filtered and split to one track or the other depending on the note range.
You can also drag a "Scale" plugin into both tracks to quantize notes to a specific scale such D pentatonic.
Set your Molar instance as the Midi source for both tracks.
Have fun! -

Help with midi routing from monome to Ableton.
How can i route from each row to diferent channels in Live, configuring the config.file? already did it! in Live just appeared Molar 40h, it doesn´t appear various midi input (??!)
Is possible to take a midi clip from Live and load in Molar (midi notes from clip to one pad in molar)?
thks -

@Digitalite
Each instance of Molar will only send midi to 1 destination. This is why in the tip above I was using a pitch filter on multiple channels to filter out midi on certain note ranges. You can also use multiple instances of Molar(each instance routable to different midi destination). So the combination of these techniques will give you the midi tracks you need.
There is no midi import in Molar. You could record an audio loop of the midi playing instruments in Live. -

I have just received my new 64
Is this compatible with Molar, if so whats the pattern prefix?
I have tried getting it working in Ableton using 40h as the prefix as its the nearest but I dont think thats what it needs
Any advice on this and how to route in Ableton (7) to affect live audio would be great
Thanks -

/40h is the correct prefix afaik. 40h and 64 is practically the same thing. There should be a bunch of posts and videos on how to set up with Ableton, I'm using Bidule now and don't remember too well. -

Molar - Audio Thru on this Y...
So I just realized last night how cool this config option is! Essentially, I can route audio through molar, record a loop from that audio to the "Y" row, then mute the incoming audio automatically when I start up the just-recorded loop on said row. -

Hi,
I am using the molar 40h plugin, I would like to get rid of the function row.
I tried by editing the config file and change the assign functions to 999.
change this:
[1] Lowest Row Modes Latch (press on / press off)
and
[0] Lowest Row is Special Functions ONLY
but I still get the last row to not work properly, i can trigger just 1 button at a time and not a sequence of them.
The reason I want this is to have 8 rows has a step sequencer and not just 7 + the function
Thank you -

I found these PDFs by Occular on my HD and thought I'd upload them since they seem to have disappeared more or less.
One is Occular's 'Unofficial Molar VSTi Functions Overview' (from August '08) in one 7 page PDF (which is the format I originally downloaded it in).
This is the same as the 7 PDFs posted above (although those are posted under the 'Molar To Go' title, which is another document). The copy I am posting seems to be higher quality (less blurry) than the 7 single pages version.
I am also attaching the single page PDF 'Molar To Go'.
Many thanks to Occular for these invaluable guides the Molar. -

Tutorials are like a hell! Can anyone explain how to start use it. I don’t have Monome, only Molar VSTi and virtual MIDI keyboard in Cubase 5 (Alt + K).
I start Cubase 5. Create MIDI track. Apply Molar VSTi on it’s output. What’s next? Nothing sounds. I don’t understand which wav bank I need, where I can download this and how route it to Molar VSTi right. Barely shows a negligible part of the monitor with an even smaller part of the open config. Is it so hard to show as a whole, as a way to embed these banks? I don’t understand "what?" and "how?" nor a share.
Hell! All videos on Vimeo are useless for me. Bad quality and there’re no clear explanations. Hm, what we can talk about the donations, if the author could not normally to explain how to use the VST properly.
Thank in advance to anyone who tries to explain how to run it.
