I know that its pretty simple (I'm sure I could make it) but I wondered if anyone else had created something similar. -

It's just a step sequencer, left to right, with notes for each of the options.
Fairly sure there are ones that can do this in the apps repo.
The usual issue might apply though in that most apps do much more. So you'll probably end up jumping through hoops to try and get one of them to do something this simple.
I might look at making one that just does this, this weekend.
Maybe with the ability to pick different scales for the Y coordinate notes. -

Residue does this (and more). Wouldn't be much of a job to simplify/isolate the modal step sequencer and possibly make it 64/128 friendly. Plus, the usual modal scale transposition options I usually include.
Oh, and add a built in simple sine sound generator in addition to MIDI. That would be useful and up the instant gratification factor. -

I would love to see a 64 make of Residue. I've had such fun with tintinn and I was just thinking about how cool it would be to have, not only a modal arpeggiator, but a modal sequencer.
Perhaps having multiple pages, like Soyuz, would make it more usable on the limited grid of the 64 (or 128)?
Also, I recently thought of another "mode" option for the GUI: Along with all the typical modes, there could be one that said "drum kit." which would automatically map to general midi c1-etc. and call up midi ch 10, etc. That would help gobs with drum sequencing and it wouldn't need the work of a custom map.
Anyway, cool. Dreaming. Dreaming is free.

soyuz does this right out of the box so to speak. just assign the notes you want to each column and you're all set. -
