I've been working on a new live setup. This video shows off some of the features I've added. All drum samples (looped and triggered) are from the 'droms' sample pack by ro.
Since it may not be immediately obvious what's going on, I'll elaborate for the curious amongst you:
mlr_aes_mdb => soundflower => live
midi_bends => IAC midi bus + midi remote script => live
nanoKontrol => midi remote script => live
smack-a-duck => soundflower => live
I modified Peter Kirn's midi remote script for the nanoKontrol, and wrote my own for midi_bends. The tilting of the monome on the left (Tuppernicus) is controlling the 8 encoders of whatever the active FX rack is. The knobs on the nanoKontrol control those same 8 encoders. This way, I can use either to control the same FX parameters. I like this a lot better than 1:1 midi mapping, because it allows multiple methods for controlling the same parameters. Tuppernicus also controls the FX toggles (4 FX x 6 channels), drum rack, and active channel/effect rack. The monome on the right (Tupperbot) is running my slightly tweaked (added rowfix) version of mlr_aes_mdb 0.4.
The first effect in every channel is a sidechain effect - gate/compressor/autofilter. This sidechain is triggered by Smack-A-Duck, my Chuck code for turning taps/smacks into audio impulses. When the vocal part first comes in, its being gated by my hits on the laptop. Later, when I go to the drum rack, you will hear it gated by my drum hits, because my button presses are actually shaking my laptop. This is not a traditional audio sidechain, its a physical sidechain.
Everything is linked on the vimeo page, I won't waste space here. Feedback is always appreciated. -

what i did: selected MIDI bends under control surface. in midi_bends i used midi yoke 6 for output.
or is the remote script for mac only? hmmn -

damn...i haven't seen this video in a while.
okay...so i attached a screenshot of my filepath and ableton setups...which should help. make sure you're using the version of midi_bends linked on that vimeo site.
the midi remote script i wrote is geared specifically for that performance. there are 12 drum pads (using the middle 6 buttons on rows 5+6 (i think, check the video)). also...there are 8 encoders which are the top four buttons in column 0 (1 axis per encoder). feel free to open up the midi remote script, and change around the midi values to your liking.

thanks a lot rawray! and i learned something new! rest assured i will be using this script on all my devices from now on!
one question - i was able to make it work controlling encoders on the active drum rack or fx rack, but for some reason it doesnt work on the drum pads (unless i activate the "track" in which case it just takes midi notes the usual way). i was expecting to be controlling the active drum rack...
but now that i think about it, it might not be that important because i can play the drum rack anyway without doing any mapping. -
