I cant get Max4live to get input from arduinome

Hi,
I have tried 7up 2.0.4 and the max4live version of MLR. I get feedback to the arduinome in 7up but button presses do nothing as MLR does not appear to do anything.
I have posted in the 7up4live thread as well but it is looking like a more general issue.
Any help would be great.
Macbook Pro 10.5.8, Arduinome Serial, live 8.1.1, max4live 5.1.3
