[fyi - this is a general audio device, not monome specific]
Though I've much respect to those skilled in the art of proper EQing, I often find myself frustrated while trying to keep that delicate balance between tracks. In an attempt to alleviate such pains, I created this max4live device which listens to the frequency levels on one track and reduces corresponding levels on another.
I'm still quite noob to M4L and Max in general and have yet to test this extensively, so any suggestions/corrections/improvements are very much appreciated!
Basic install/usage is included in the readme file. System performance can take a serious hit when sample rate is set very low (~5ms). Because of this, the keyer may be of little use on drum tracks/etc.

looks promising ! thanks a lot i'll give it a try !
okay, after a few minutes of try i can say bravo, it works really fine and the dry/wet is really useful for guys such as me with no specific knowledge on mixing/eqing tracks together...
My suggestion : what do you think making making some parallel patch for using a send1/receive1 modules for 1 task and the possibilities to add others dual module (S/R), as many as a set needs (for example using one send/receive dual for the bass and drum tracks, one other duo for the keys tracks, other for the voices ones...)
thanks again for this useful patch, for sure i'll use it a lot ! -

glad you found it useful!
yah, I'd def like to add some routing capabilities for sending data out to multiple tracks - will look into it, shouldn't be too hard.
In the meantime, here's a new revision that uses only one data channel in order to improve performance in ableton. Also fixed an issue from the previous version which was killing the high end on the receiver's output.

I'm not completely convinced this thing is much better than using sidechain compression(eeew!), but hey - I'm learning a lot about max either way ;) -

I may be way off on understanding my terminology here but i was under the impression that sidechain compression dosent necessarily reduce specific frequencies found in the track. am I wrong? -

no - you're totally right. I'm just evaluating what I've heard from a few initial tests and perhaps being a little too critical of the keyer's practical capabilities. -
